The Power Power Genius XL is a solid-state HF/6 m amplifier covering 1.8–54 MHz, delivering up to 2 kW PEP (mode and duty-cycle dependent) using a pair of modern MRF1K50H LDMOS devices and an integrated wide-range power supply (90–250 VAC). It provides clean, reliable power for demanding contest and DX operation at home or remote.
Power Power Genius XL is available in two factory hardware versions, selected at the time of purchase:
3-WAY Version – 1 Input, 3 Outputs (1×3)
The 3-WAY variant is designed for operators using one transceiver with up to three antennas. It allows rapid selection of different antennas (for example, multiple bands, directions or antenna types) without external high-power switches or an additional amplifier, making it ideal for flexible single-radio contest and DX stations that want fast antenna changes from the shack or remotely.
SO2R Version – 2 Inputs, 2 Outputs (2×2)
The SO2R variant provides two independent RF paths – two exciter inputs and two antenna outputs – with about 70 dB nominal isolation between the radio inputs. This version is the right choice for serious contesting and high-rate operation, where you want to run true Single Operator Two Radio with separate radios and antennas while sharing one amplifier platform.
Power Genius XL Key Features
- High power, clean signal: up to approximately 2 kW PEP capability on HF and 6 m, using dual MRF1K50H LDMOS devices for excellent linearity and low IMD.
- Full HF/6 m coverage: 1.8–54 MHz, supporting all major amateur bands.
- MEffA™ (Maximum Efficiency Algorithm): dynamic DC supply control that improves efficiency on constant-level modes such as CW, RTTY, FM and FT8 by matching PA voltage to the RF envelope.
- Diplexed filters and Harmonic Load: broadcast-style filtering with an internal 400 W dummy load to absorb harmonics, improving linearity, spurious performance and thermal management.
- Advanced thermal design: multi-zone, fan-controlled cooling with intelligent algorithms to balance temperature, performance and noise, plus fast protection against over-temperature and SWR faults.
- Fast SWR protection: ultra-rapid response to high SWR conditions to protect the LDMOS devices.
- Ethernet-based control: CAT, CI-V, BCD and LAN interfaces for easy integration with modern transceivers and station-control systems.
- Deep FlexRadio integration: automatic band selection, T/R control and status/metering via SmartSDR clients.
- Remote operation: full control and monitoring via Ethernet API, as well as dedicated Windows and Android applications for managing the amplifier over LAN or WAN.
- Large front-panel touchscreen: provides local control, clear status indication and a platform for future firmware enhancements and new features.
Configuration-Specific Highlights
- 3-WAY version (1×3): optimised for a single-radio, multi-antenna station, simplifying high-power antenna switching when you regularly move between different bands, beams, verticals or receive arrays.
- SO2R version (2×2): provides a true two-radio, two-antenna path with high isolation between inputs, ideal for competitive SO2R contesting and serious multi-band operating.
Quality, Engineering and Reliability
Power Genius XL is developed by the 4O3A engineering team in cooperation with FlexRadio, applying experience from both professional broadcast and high-level contest environments. Each amplifier is carefully assembled, calibrated and subjected to full-power testing across the HF and 6 m bands before shipment.
The rugged mechanical construction, die-cast aluminium chassis and modular internal design provide excellent RF shielding, easy serviceability and long-term durability. Together with its flexible 3-WAY or SO2R hardware options and comprehensive remote-control capabilities, the Power Power Genius XL is an ideal core amplifier for modern high-performance and remote-operated amateur radio stations.
